Wow. So first day in Italy: complete. After so many months of preparation I’m definitely glad to be here.

Speaking of this preparation, let’s talk about that for a minute. As far as packing went, there was absolutely no preparation whatsoever. So of course my suitcase ended up weighing 70 lbs. the night before I left. Oops. Ah well, gotta love crying over your clothes that didn’t make your mother’s cut when downsizing to a smaller suitcase.

Kidding.

But I definitely had to be a lot pickier than I expected, which, for someone who hasn’t grown out of any of their clothes since about 8th or 9th grade, was difficult.

Nevertheless, here I am, with still too much stuff. Unpacking is quickly becoming the most unpleasant thing in my life at the moment. Counting my blessings.

So here I am!

My apartment is adorable, the tap water is great (straight from the ancient Roman aqueducts), the food and wine is absolutely amazing, and Rome is beautiful. 5 points to Shelby for being the only one in my apartment able to effectively communicate with the repairman. *fangirls over first real Italian conversation*

We got to drive past the Coliseum and see the top of St. Peter’s Basilica, the Pantheon and a good chunk of Rome against a gorgeous sunset. Then proceeded to eat ourselves into multiple food comas. No regrets.

Because I like to make life hard on myself, I forgot not one but BOTH memory cards for my camera so pictures for the next couple days will just be iPhone pictures, but better quality will be coming soon!

Arrivederci!
