Let Classes Begin!

Update: I still haven’t learned British coins. I know the pound coin, the 2 pound coin, 2 pence coin and the twenty pence coin. The other ones are a mystery.

Anyways…this week was the second week of classes, but because I switched 2 out of my three classes last week, it seemed like the first week. I’m a Statistics and Political Science major, but I’m taking a religion class, a politics class, and German. I have zero knowledge of German, so it will be an interesting course!

I toured St. Giles’ Cathedral which was very old, big, beautiful, historic - what you would expect of a European church. Although we do have a pretty fancy cathedral in Minnesota, The Cathedral of St. Paul, the ones in Europe are slightly cooler (don’t confuse it with St. Paul Cathedral because that’s the one in London).

While I was walking to class today, I passed the Balmoral Hotel where a huge crowd was gathered outside. I asked a stranger (Scottish people are so nice) what was going on, and she told me that the Britain’s Got Talent judges were staying in the hotel and leaving to go to the Edinburgh auditions. I waited for a little bit, but I only got to see one judge, David Walliams. I didn’t know who David Walliams was, and I definitely felt bad when everybody started shouting and taking pictures when he walked out of the hotel.

Looking ahead: Burns Night is on Sunday, which is a celebration of the Scottish poet, Robert Burns, but I’m celebrating it on Thursday because I’m headed south this weekend to London! I’m really excited to see more of the UK!
