I can't believe that in just a few hours I will be beginning the journey of a lifetime in Australia for an entire year! It feels like only yesterday that I was just starting college and now I'm going to be studying abroad, something I've wanted to do my whole life.

Surprisingly, I think I did a pretty good job packing for a year of studying abroad in a foreign country. I only had to pack one suitcase! Granted, I packed until almost the last minute, but I think I did alright. That's coming from probably one of the worst packers you'll ever meet. I can't pack anything on my own. I had to have either my mom or my exchange student (or both!) sitting with me while I was packing just so I could talk to someone. They didn't even do anything… most of the time. Although I have to say, my exchange student gave me some great advice for what to pack/not to pack in my suitcase. It really helps to have someone in a similar situation give you tips; it certainly helped me!

Most people say that they have trouble fitting all their stuff into one suitcase, but it was actually really, really easy for me to do. I really hope I’m not missing anything… If I am, then I’m kind of in trouble, because my parents won’t be shipping it to me overseas!

I honestly can’t wait for my Australian year to begin. I’ve been waiting for this moment since I knew I’d be going to Australia back at the beginning of the spring semester and now it’s finally here!

I may try to write again while I’m traveling to Australia, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to. If I don’t get the chance, then I’ll write again when I’ve arrived in the land down under! Hopefully at that time my posts will be a bit more interesting…
