When I woke up on the morning of February 24th, I realized that I have been living in Cape Town for a month. These past four weeks have been filled with daily adventures, all while surviving the summer heat, vibing to South African house music, studying at UWC, and adulting at the grocery store. I remember the moment when I called my place of residence, “home” for the first time. It was surprising to feel this way about Cape Town so fast, but CT is a special place.

In celebration of my monthaversary with South Africa, I will recap my Top 10 Most Memorable Moments:

  1. Grape Stomping at Feast of the Grape in Durbanville Wine Valley
  2. Seeing the “Whites-Only” and “Non-Whites Only” benches from the apartheid era in downtown Cape Town
  3. Watching the sunset on the Atlantic Ocean
  4. Traveling to the Cape of Good Hope and seeing where the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean meet
  5. Venturing to Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, which is located on the foot of Table Mountain
  6. Rock Climbing and completing the High Ropes Course at High Africa Adventures
  7. Posing with the Penguins at Boulder Beach (which was way better than any zoo in Michigan)
  8. Riding the Cape (Ferris) Wheel at V&A Waterfront and seeing the Atlantic Ocean on one side and Table Mountain on the other
  9. Dining at an array of amazing restaurants, which is why I highly appreciate my gym membership
  10. Facetiming with people who I hold dear from home

South Africa is such a beautiful country and I am fortunate to be spending my next 4 months here.

Cheers!
