This past weekend I did the takeover for the Éalu weekend events. I answered questions people had about Arcadia, being abroad, and Trinity College Dublin while documenting our activities throughout the weekend.
As we head into reading week, lots of people have midterm papers or exams and have been stressed, so having a weekend to spend together with all of the Arcadia Abroad students was such a lovely escape from the reality of classes.
We went to Killarney and the Ring of Kerry to see the most visited national park in Ireland. Killarney National Park was the highlight of the trip for me. I love to hike at home and have been doing some around Dublin, but Killarney was a totally different environment. The lake, mountains, and history of the park was captivating with its beautiful and interesting sights. I also really enjoyed exploring the town and getting to interact with locals.
This was the first time that everyone in the program was in one place because of how many different universities people are studying at. Getting to meet new people and explore a new place was an exciting adventure that really helped me relax and rejuvenate before coming back to exams.
The world éalu in Irish means escape and this weekend definitely lived up to its name.
