As the brisk winds of Edinburgh, Scotland, welcomed me, the reality of its chilly reputation hit home with undeniable force. Every article and Instagram post that forewarned me of the January cold proved to be an accurate portrayal of my daily reality. During the initial two weeks, I found solace in the embrace of skiing thermal gear (courtesy of Hot Chillys) nestled beneath my regular clothing, a necessary defense against the biting cold that enveloped the city. The past few days have mercifully ushered in warmer temperatures, allowing me to shed the layers and bid farewell to the trusty long underwear.

Amidst this temperature tango, I've embarked on a quest to unravel the wonders of Edinburgh's rich tapestry. The iconic silhouette of Edinburgh Castle stands as a constant companion, its allure beckoning me, promising exploration yet to come. The quaint coastal charm of Leith, with its promise of delightful brunches shared with newfound exchange friends, has become a cherished memory of these initial weeks. The National Museum, a daily sight on my journey to school, whispers tales of history at every step. And then, there's the University's Law Library, where the pursuit of knowledge comes with extreme silence and its own set of challenges amid a slightly overwhelming course load.

Coming from an American university, I have learned that navigating the academic landscape of the University of Edinburgh requires a delicate dance and much trial and error. Nevertheless, after spending two weeks acclimating to the educational culture of Scotland, I've found that keeping a routine is most important.

Beyond the classroom, the warmth of Edinburgh's hospitality has been such a pleasure. Weekly pub quizzes have become a gateway to meeting charming locals, and leisurely strolls around the main campus have transformed chance encounters into lasting connections. And oh, the coffee and tea shops—a symphony of flavors and aromas that elevate the everyday. As a dedicated tea enthusiast, discovering new varieties has been nothing short of a fantastic time.

In these three weeks, Edinburgh has unfolded before me like a captivating novel, each chapter revealing a new facet of its charm. From the frigid winds to the warmth of newfound connections and the joyous discovery of delightful teas, this city is a captivating blend of contrasts. Join me as I continue this scholarly and sensory expedition, embracing the academic challenges and savoring the cultural delights that Edinburgh has generously laid at my feet!
