When I chose London as my study abroad destination, I knew I was signing up for more than just a term of classes. The city captured my heart with its perfect blend of history and modernity, incredibly diverse population, and vibrant energy. Where else can you hear dozens of languages on a single street and find medieval towers alongside buildings nicknamed "The Gherkin"?

As an international student, London's multicultural atmosphere made me feel instantly at home. But one of the city's biggest draws was its location—within hours, you can find yourself anywhere in the UK. This brings me to my recent day trip to Cambridge with my friend, just an hour from London's King's Cross Station.

Stepping off the train in Cambridge felt like entering another era. While London pulses with urban energy, Cambridge moves more contemplatively. Since it was the weekend, we couldn't tour inside the colleges, but that didn't stop us from admiring the stunning architecture from the outside. The narrow cobblestone streets and honey-colored college buildings created an atmosphere that's worlds apart from London's modern skyline. We wandered through the bustling Cambridge Market, a historic square filled with local vendors selling everything from fresh produce to artisanal crafts. The market's lively atmosphere and mix of traditional and contemporary stalls gave us a real taste of local life.

One of the highlights of our day was stopping for the city's famous gelato—a welcome treat during our walking tour. The rich, creamy flavors lived up to their reputation, making the perfect refreshment between our explorations. We also spent time at one of Cambridge's museums, immersing ourselves in the city's rich cultural heritage. Walking through the exhibits, we got a deeper appreciation for the academic traditions that have shaped this historic city for centuries.

As we strolled around the university areas, even from the outside, the grandeur of institutions like King's College with its magnificent chapel left us in awe. Every street seemed to tell a story, and we enjoyed discovering the city at our own pace, taking photos of the stunning architecture, and soaking in the scholarly atmosphere that permeates every corner.
