Last Tuesday evening, Arcadia hosted 'Study abroad for Work', a career seminar for our Dublin students focusing on how to articulate the study abroad experience in resumes and in future job interviews.

The seminar was led by Peter Kavanagh, Head of Communications and Public Affairs at Active Retirement Ireland. An expert in communications, Peter assisted the students in creating an effective narrative of their study abroad experience to best showcase their skills and accomplishments gained during their semester abroad. In addition to helping students articulate the overseas learning experience for future reference, Peter also outlined things students can do now during their semester abroad that will help boost future career prospects.

Students were invited to think about what the aspects of Irish culture they have engaged with in their first weeks in Ireland and the hurdles they have overcome. This would include participation in orientation activities such as Experience Gaelic Games, and An Cúairt ar Phobal (The Arcadia Home-stay weekend), adapting to life in a new and busy city, adjusting to living independently in student apartments, registering for classes, participating in campus clubs and societies as well as attending Arcadia Co-Curricular activities.

Learning to best articulate the study abroad experience is so important for future careers prospects - thanks so much to Peter for hosting such a fantastic evening!
