This week our University of Aberdeen Scholarship recipient, Jessica Watson, reflects on a favorite spot of her's in Aberdeen - Seaton Park. Located between Old Aberdeen and the University of Aberdeen's Hillhead Student Village, the park is a fantastic place to enjoy a sunny day.
Walking through Seaton Park, a dulcet melody caught my ear and drew me to the riverbank where this man was playing violin. I asked to take his picture and he smiled and said “It’s a public park.” Beauty in sight and sound. “Son can you play me a melody? I'm not really sure how it goes, but it’s sad and it’s sweet and I knew it complete when I wore a younger man’s clothes.”
“The health of the eye seems to demand a horizon. We are never tired so long as we can see far enough.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nature
Why walk in a straight line when you can go a million different directions and find beauty in every one?
“When God gave us mana in the wilderness, that was a miracle too.” -Fiddler on the Roof
The walk from campus to Hillhead is most beautiful when the branches of the trees are cast upon the worn cobblestone path.
“Nature never did betray the heart that loved her.” -William Wordsworth
Walking over the Brig O Balgownie I stumbled across this brilliant waterfall and had to capture the image.
