Glasgow Society of Women Artists: 2-14 June, Smith Art Gallery & Museum

Works by Scottish women artists are featured in this year's exhibition, in media from oil and watercolour to ceramics, textiles and jewellery.

The Other Mary: Throughout June, Stirling Castle

An exhibition dedicated to 'the other Mary', Mary of Guise, marking 500 years since her birth.

Music, Comedy and Dance

Scottish Chamber Orchestra: 4 June, Stirling Castle, 8pm

The Scottish Chamber Orchestra is recognised as one of the finest chamber orchestras in the world and tours extensively in Scotland as well as internationally.

John Cooper Clarke: 6 June, Tolbooth, 7pm

The legendary Mancunian punk poet, who is a spiritual godfather to the likes of Mike Skinner and Plan B hauls his insatiable laconic wit on tour.

Cadenza: 6 June, Dunblane Cathedral, 7.30pm

Cadenza, founded in 1992, is one of Scotland's leading amateur choirs with a repertoire that reaches from the Renaissance to the present.

Status Anxiety & Thinking in the First Person: 17 June, macrobert, 7.30pm

A double bill of dance pieces, featuring b-boy and hip hop, exploring social media.

Dean Owens: 19 June, Tolbooth, 8pm

Scotland's Americana troubadour.

Jaleo Flamenco: A Compas: 19 June, macrobert, 7.30pm

High energy, traditional Mediterranean dance, complete with music and vocals.

Gaita Medieval Music Ensemble: 28 June, Bannockburn Heritage Centre, 10am-7pm

Experts on music from the courts of medieval Europe, Gaita is based around the core group of Chris Elmes (bagpipes, medieval fiddles, oud, percussion), Cait Webb (shawms, gothic harp, lap harp, pipe and tabor, percussion) and Helena MacGilp (voice, oud and percussion). They perform with period instruments and in period dress, and CDs and editions of the music are available from their website.

 

Lectures, Sports and Local Festivals

Bootcamp: Innovate 2015: 8-11 June, University of Stirling

A four-day bootcamp for those looking to step away from the status quo and do something different. Working along and in groups, participants learn new skills, hone old ones and decide whether or not starting a business is on the cards.
