Bannockburn 700--Remember Bannockburn!: Throughout the Beginning of August, Smith Art Gallery & Museum

To mark the 700th anniversary of the battle of Bannockburn this exhibition looks back at the history of the battle site, the Bannockburn community, the impact of the battle on the Scottish nation and how it has been represented in visual art over the years.

Delightful Dunedin: Throughout the Beginning of August, Smith Art Gallery & Museum

A celebration of Stirling's sister city, Dunedin in Florida, a popular tourist destination.

Sense and Sensibility: 7 August, Stirling Castle, 5.45pm

Chapterhouse Theater Company presents Jane Austen's classic story of two sisters entering 18th century society life and coming to terms with life and love.

Music, Comedy and Dance

Project Y: 1 August, MacRobert, 7.30pm

YDance, the national youth dance company, presents the fruits of its annual summer residency, with work choreographed by Anna Kenrick (YDance), Kerry Nicholls (Kerry Nicholls Dance Company), Natasha Gilmore (Barrowlands Ballet) and Thomas Small (Smallpetitklein).

Summer Ceilidh: 13 August, Tolbooth, 8pm

Grab your partner and have a good old birl around the dance floor with help from the caller and professional ceilidh band.

Continental Circus Berlin: Throughout the Beginning of August, King's Park

An extravaganza of energetic and daring feats to make you doubt your own eyes - from head balancing on a trapeze to clowning to motorbike foot juggling, this lot will go to any lengths to shock and impress you.

Stirling's Farmer's Market: 8 August, Port Street, 10am

A busy market with 20 to 25 stalls, traders gather on the 2nd Saturday of the month. Producers represent a good cross-section of some of Scotland’s finest food and drink suppliers, from Churchill's wild venison, Barker's Highland beef and Arbroath Fishery's fresh and smoked fish to Bellfield Organic vegetables and soft fruit. Stallholders include drinks (Cairn O’Mohr fruit wines), artisan pies, hand-made bread and bakes from Achray, Different Breid and gluten-free Cookroom, Perthshire Preserves and Summer Harvest Oils. Hand-made clothes, jewellery and beauty products are also available.
