Art and Culture

Film: Nosferatu Live: 6 February, Byre Theatre, 7:30pm
F. W. Murnau’s landmark vampire film Nosferatu is a 1922 adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The striking imagery gives an innate sense of the sinister which is tireless. The classical composer/pianist, Dmytro Morykit, has now added an additional layer of drama and depth with his haunting new score: a multi-layered classic to reflect the complexity of this enduring story. When played live alongside the film, it provides a sensational evening of image and sound.

Arty Saturdays: Saturdays, Gateway Galleries, 1pm
Draw, make a collage or build a Scottish city in this session inspired by the Recording Scotland display.

Building with Words: Byre Theatre, Throughout February
Using a distinctive and unique combination of materials including collage, print making, drawing and hot wax, Lucy Jones constructs works with relevant texts and images, creating unique ‘building portraits’ which have a literary as well as a visual story. As StAnza’s Artist in Residence for 2015 she has produced a series of portraits of the buildings of St Andrews, StAnza festival venues and city landmarks, utilising collage materials collected during her visit to the 2015 festival. Her exhibition connects the town's architectural heritage with its continuing passion for words.
