This Spring semester students studying in Scotland, Ireland and England had the opportunity to meet in Dublin to discover and explore the history, importance and relevance today of the Easter Uprising of 1916. The events scheduled over the weekend provided a deeper understanding of the 1916 Uprisings, including a play at the Abbey Theatre, visits to pivotal battle sights around the city, a lecture on the importance and role of women during the 1916 Uprisings, an exhibition at the National Library and a tour of Kilmainham Gaol.
If you are interested in reading more about the Dublin Weekend from a student perspective, Melissa Thompson, studying at the University of Aberdeen for the semester, has written a wonderful blog about her experience in Dublin.
Thanks again to all the students and collaboration of the Arcadia Centers for making the weekend such a success.
