While the weather may be chilly and the days short, December offers ample opportunity for warmth, joy and generally festive feelings.  Scotland embraces a range of cultures and traditions from around the world, and cities across the country play host to markets, exhibitions, concerts and a host of other events which encourage people to come together and share in the celebrations of the season.

We have found a few events below, which are sure to keep your days merry and bright, and we hope that you will have the chance to take a break from studying and take in the atmosphere.

Aberdeen

Aberdeen Christmas village

Throughout December, union terrace gardens

Gather around the Christmas tree and market stalls to enjoy live music, festive shopping and edible delights!

Visit one of the National Trust's castle sites for the indoor market, holly wreaths and local food.
