Terra Nova: Through 14 February, Suttie Centre
New work from FOUND collective members Ziggy Campbell and Simon Kirby, made in response to the photographs taken by William Clark Souter on the 1903 Terra Nova Antarctic expedition.

SPECTRA: Aberdeen's Festival of Light: 11-14 February, Various sites

Aberdeen's festival of light aims to dazzle occupants with a mixture of light installations, music and poetry. The 2016 festival has a ‘Spark of Inspiration’ theme.

Born and Baptised: Throughout February, Aberdeen Maritime Museum
A variety of objects and paintings showing the changing nature and importance of birth and baptism in society.

Music, Comedy and Dance

Runrig: 10 February, Music Hall, 7pm
One of the world's highest selling Celtic rock acts, fusing traditional Gaelic folk music with contemporary rock.

Edinburgh Quartet: Storm and Stress: 18 February, King's College Chapel, 7:30pm
The 'Sturm und Drang' movement in 18th century German culture was all about passion; literally translated as Storm & Stress, it expressed itself in the work of writers but some of Haydn's earlier masterpieces have also been linked to it. The quartet plays Haydn's Op 76 No 2 as well as Bartok'sQuartet No 3 and Grieg's Quartet.

Aberdeen Sinfonietta: 21 February, Music Hall, 7:30pm
The Aberdeen Sinfonietta is one of the leading musical ensembles in the North East, giving regular concerts and also providing orchestral support to choral societies in the area.

Ed Byrne: Outside, Looking In: 26 February, Music Hall, 8pm
The Dublin-stand-up and regular guest on Mock The Week returns with a new show of observational humor.

 

Lectures, Sports and Local Festivals

Aberdeen Parkrun: Saturdays, Beach Esplanade, 9:30am
An informal weekly 5k run along the Beach Esplanade. Everyone is welcome, no matter how fast or slow (you're welcome to walk the route, bring your dog or push a buggy), so you can use it as a one-off fitness test, a chance to get some fresh air or come every week to try to beat your personal best time.
