Aberdeen's War: Throughout February, Aberdeen Art Gallery

An exhibition drawing on the city’s rich collections to explore different aspects of Aberdeen’s involvement with the Great War including work by war artist James McBey.

Ganseys: Throughout February, Aberdeen Maritime Museum

An exhibition exploring the gansey – a seamless, woollen pullover worn by seamen and fishermen.

Princess Ida: 11-14 February, Arts Centre and Theatre Aberdeen, 7:30pm

A University of Aberdeen Gilbert and Sullivan Society production of this entertaining tale by the musical duo.

In Motion Animation Festival: Beginning 6 February, various venues and times

This second edition of In Motion Animation Festival focuses on the work of Dutch artist Hisko Hulsing, creator of the multi-award winning Junkyard, with an exhibition of his development sketches, storyboards, paintings, musical scores, sculptures and films. Also featuring an international season of short and feature-length animation films. The finale features the presentation of the Golden Rowie Award.

BBC SSO: Volkov Conducts the Seasons: 6 February, Music Hall, 7:30pm

Glazunov's Seasons – that is, Alexander Glazunov, the teen prodigy who became director of the Saint Petersburg Conservatory, and whose most famous pupil was Dmitri Shostakovich. Ilan Volkov conducts Glazunov's ballet suite as well as Shostakovich's film music from King Lear, and Yuri Vorobiev sings Mussorgsky's Songs and Dances of Death.

An Evening with Noel Fielding: 9 February, Music Hall, 8pm

First solo live tour from the star of The Mighty Boosh and Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy. Expect a mix of Noel's unique brand of stand up comedy, live animation, music and some of Fielding's best-known TV characters.

SPECTRA: Aberdeen's Festival of Light: 19-22 February, Various Venues and times

Aberdeen's festival of light aims to dazzle occupants with a mixture of light installations, music and poetry. The 2014 festival included a garden planted entirely with LED flowers and a parade of technicolor visuals along the usually dim backstreets of the city. 2015 sees featured artists from the UK, Norway and Iceland.
