With the folk music revival of the twentieth century, traditional Irish music found renewed relevance among the Irish people. Gatherings of trad musicians, known colloquially throughout Ireland as "sessions", have become an integral part of pub culture and, indeed, Irish culture at large. These generally informal, primarily instrumental gatherings are often open to all who wish to join in - as long as the etiquette is upheld!

Arcadia student, Samuel Teeter, recently informed us that he has drummed up the courage to join in on some sessions in Devitt's Pub on Camden Street in Dublin. Devitt's is a well-known and lively venue that attracts some of Dublin's top talent. We're extremely proud of Sam, and frankly, we can't think of a better extra-curricular for a study abroad student! Look out for more on Sam and other Arcadia students who are taking on the Irish music scene.
