Yesterday at the Arcadia Dublin Center we celebrateed Pancake Tuesday. Often called Shrove Tuesday or in the Irish language "Pancóg Dé Máirt" it was traditionally a day when ingredients were used up before the holy season of Lent. Yesterday it gave us an excuse to eat as many pancakes as possible - freshly prepared by our lovely next door neighbour Syrus at the Chorus Cafe.

We had such a great turnout yesterday that I felt I had to write about it. Students from TCD, DPI and UCD dropped in throughout the day to see what all the fuss was about! Many commented on the fact that the pancakes were more like crepes but they still tasted good. Yesterday wasn't just about the Pancakes though. I think it gave everyone an excuse to chat with each other about their adventures in Dublin so far. There was stories about the upcoming elections in Ireland, the patience required to get fully registered and set up for the Semester, dancing at the local clubs and of course the weather! Once I heard talk about the weather I knew there were signs of adjustment. I was so happy to hear someone say "Nobody lets the rain stop them from doing things in Ireland, you guys were right during orientation". I walked away with a smile on my face.  It was in many ways one of those memorable days at Arcadia.
