Arcadia Ireland

This weekend our wonderful colleagues in London will host what has now become a highlight of every Semester - the Regional weekend. Each Semester our Centers in London, Scotland and Ireland take turns in planning a co-curricular event which brings students from each of these locations to explore, integrate and celebrate the Arcadia Regional Community.  Some of our lucky students from Galway, Cork, Limerick and Dublin secured a spot and will hop over on the short flight with John Moriarty to spend time in one of the most vibrant, exciting and ethnically diverse cities in the world! The story of London is ever so long and dramatic. So much of their culture as a country developed in the city and students will get a good taste of its many offerings over a three day period. 

First stop will be the Churchill War Rooms where students can explore the secret headquarters of ‘the greatest Briton’, Sir Winston Churchill, and uncover the underground nucleus of Britain’s war effort. The first London museum of its kind, the Churchill War Rooms and Museum depicts all ninety years of Winston Churchill’s life, divided into five chapters starting from his childhood, through his early years as British Prime Minister and the period famously known as the ‘Gathering Storm’. Students will have plenty of free time to visit iconic parts of London such as Buckingham Palace & Big Ben. Part of the visit will also take the group on a tour of Stonehenge & Bath. This leisurely paced full day tour visits two of England’s spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Sites with plenty of time to explore the wonderful sights and attractions of beautiful Bath. To round off what we expect to be a wonderful few days there will be an opportunity for students to visit to Columbia Road Flower Market, Primrose Hill or Southbank.

A special word of thanks to our colleagues in London for all their efforts in making this event happen. We are truly so excited! Next Semester its Dublin's turn again - don't worry, we've already started thinking about a weekend in Belfast Northern Ireland.
