This weekend brings students away from their campus location and into a rustic Irish community in the Garden County of Ireland, Co. Wicklow.  Éalú extends student orientation and supports adjustment to life in Ireland. By the time this weekend rolls around, students will have had an opportunity to implement the practical learning acquired through their initial three-day Arcadia orientation in Dublin. Our weekend will push students to dig deeper into Irish society and culture.

Students will engage with Wicklow culture, its people, its landscape, its music and its traditions. All of the activities during the weekend will encourage integration with Arcadia staff and other students across Arcadia’s Ireland community. There will be time for fun too and students will be invited to join Arcadia staff for a traditional Irish Ceili, music and dance.  We will hike by the lakes surrounding Glendalough and St. Kevin’s monastery  encouraging students to step out of their comfort zones in a safe, well supported environment. We will visit Ireland's very popular Ballyknocken Cookery School and will be given a warm welcome by the very well known celebrity chef Catherine Fulvio. Our students will have an opportunity to learn the skills of Irish baking and tea drinking!

The themes of Arcadia’s robust co-curricular learning programme will inform this weekend’s planing.  Our Dublin center staff will help students to slow down a little and to look beneath the surface of everyday Irish life. We'll open the doors and students will grasp the opportunity.

Upon completion students will have the opportunity to reflect on the weekend in writing by submitting a Co-Curricular Learning Certificate to the College of Global Studies.
