As the days begin to get a little shorter and the temperatures begin to drop, it can be easy to settle into a habit of doing the same things and going to the same places. However, living in Dublin (especially for students here only one semester) there are so many events, festivals, museums, and tourist destinations to explore that you’ll never be able to cross them all off of the list. With the autumn weather, it can be easy to lose track of time to explore all that the city has to offer. It’s easy to miss out on some of the amazing events that are constantly popping up around the city, however this weekend there are two festivals that I think should definitely be checked out!

Dublin Vegfest

This weekend marks the return of the Dublin Vegfest for a two-day celebration of vegan food and plant-based lifestyles! It is not a requirement to be vegan or even vegetarian to attend or enjoy the event, and all are encouraged to attend and try new things. The festival will consist of a Vegan Food Village with an array of vegan friendly food items from cupcakes to barbeque to hotdogs! The event is taking place at Griffith College in Dublin 8, which is easily accessible to our Dublin-based students. Attendees of the festival can attend talks on health and fitness, climate change and food, and various other discussions regarding plant-based diets. Delicious food and discussions aren’t all that you’ll find at the Vegfest but there will also be live music and demonstrations on preparing vegan dishes. Dublin Theatre Festival

The Dublin Theatre Festival is back this year from the 26 September - 13 October with a program that showcases Irish theatre. The 2019 program consists of diverse performances around Dublin that includes theatre, music, dance, artist talks, and public discussions taking place across the greater Dublin area. The festival highlights performances by established artists and companies as well as work from emerging artists. The 2019 program is filled with diverse performances that are sure to appeal to a wide variety of audiences. To check out the program for this year’s festival, click here.

With such a busy city, these are obviously only two of the many events taking place this weekend. For a larger list of events taking place in Dublin please check here. Not located in Dublin? You can see events happening throughout Ireland here.
