We are running three competitions this semester with a $50 Amazon voucher to give away to the winner of each one!

Photo COMPETITION:

After such a successful photo competition last semester – we got 182 submissions!!- we have decided to stretch the imaginations this year. The task this semester is to capture the Life of the Mind theme Protest! We are in no way suggesting students go to protests. Instead we invite students to look at the less conventional forms of protest and demonstrations, and this semester there are lots of opportunities!

  • Our Belfast and Antrim Coast weekend is a great opportunity to look at the famous murals of Belfast and learn about their significance during our presentation on the mural of Northern Ireland with Prof. Bill Rolston.
  • The Irish election is now in full swing, and a whole host of lobbying and advocacy groups are using it as an opportunity to get support for their issues, most notability the Amend the 8th campaign which is using some very creative social media tools to gain traction.
  • Students attending the Centenary of a Nation Rising weekend in Dublin will have ample opportunity to get some quality photos relating to another form of Protest!

Creative Writing Competition:

We are also running a creative writing competition centred on our Co-Curricular themes:

  • Active Ireland
  • Spiritual Ireland
  • Global/Innovation Ireland
  • Local Ireland
  • Imagined Ireland

We welcome all kinds of submissions from book reviews to short stories and poetry.

One Second a Day Competition

Finally, we have our One Second a Day Competition. The idea is very simple, use the One Second a Day app or the 365 app to record one second of each day of the semester; the end result is a fantastic montage of experiences from the super exciting to the ultra-ordinary. Check out last semesters’ winning entry from Kevin Beck in Eckerd College.

We have a $50 Amazon voucher to give away to each of the three winners! Entries can be submitted through the 'Arcadia Study Abroad - Ireland' Facebook page, and the photo entries can also be submitted through the Arcadia Ireland Instagram account by tagging @ArcadiaIreland #ArcadiaIreland on your post.

Good Luck everyone!
