Last Friday we went to Tibidabo Hill!!! The best place in the city if you are looking for spectacular views of Barcelona from top to bottom.

Standing at 512 meters (1680 ft), this mountain it’s the highest point in Barcelona, and a very popular sightseeing spot!!!

The summit of the mountain is occupied by the Sagrat Cor church and Tibidabo Amusement Park. The Torre de Collserola telecommunications tower is a short walk away. All three are prominently visible from most of the city of Barcelona.

Tibidabo can be reached via the Tibidabo Funicular, which was the first of its kind in Spain.

  • Tibidabo Amusement Park

The only amusement park in Barcelona and one of the oldest in Europe, this attraction has over 100 years of history!

  • Expiatory Church of the Sacred Heart

Designed by Enric Sagnier, the church took 60 years to construct and is topped by a sculpture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus by Josep Miret Llopart. You can reach the rooftop through a lift for even better views of Barcelona.

  • The Collserola Park & Tower

Built for the 1992 Summer Olympics, the futuristic looking structure was designed to unite all the communication requirements for the city in anticipation for the games.

A visit to the observation platform on the 10th floor is a must. It takes just 2,5 minutes to ascend on the panoramic lift at 560 meters above sea level to witness an impressive 360 degree view of Barcelona.

There is a pedestrian path to reach the bottom of the tower.

  • Fun stuff and extra information about Tibidabo

The amusement park was used as a set for a scene in the Woody Allen Oscar winning film Vicky Christina Barcelona. The director has predilection for shooting scenes of his movies in amusement parks and Barcelona was no exception!
