Our summer students have arrived!! And one of our first activities together was The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la SAGRADA FAMILIA, the most iconic symbol of Barcelona and the most visited landmark in the whole of Spain! It is considered to be the best example of Modernist architecture designed by Antoni Gaudí.

Did you know?

  • Antoni Gaudí, was one of the most famous figures of Catalan culture and world architecture.
  • Gaudí spent the last years of his live on the Sagrada Familia.
  • Gaudí died in a tram accident and is burried within the Basilica's Crypt
  • They started working on the Sagrada Familia in 1882.
  • Sagrada Familia's construction progressed slowly and was interrupted by the Spanish Civil War.
  • While on one end of the Sagrada Familia they're constructing new parts, on the other they're renovating the old constructions.
  • It’s still not finished, it’s expected that completion date will be around 2026.
  • 2.5 million visitors come to see the Sagrada every year.
  • The building is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
