This course is designed for students who are interested in understanding the history, culture and recent political events in Barcelona, as the capital of Catalonia, and its relationship with Spain. Through guided explorations (virtual) tours by symbolic, historical and modern places, as well as audiovisual materials and reflections on readings and other activities, students will learn about aspects of the history of Barcelona, the culture of Catalonia and about some of its most significant traditions. At the same time, the contrast between Catalan and Spanish culture will be explored, and the coexistence in the city of their respective languages will also be analyzed.
