York may be located up in the north of England, but it does not take long to reach via train. So, we found ourselves heading up to the beautiful city for a day trip where we absorbed as much of the stunning history as we could. The trip was a great success and the students made the most of their long day.

Upon arrival we were treated to a historic walking tour of the city. Despite it's stature York's city center is easy to traverse by foot. We saw old Roman ruins, as well as Medieval ones. We circled the Minster via the old walls, and we learned about the Viking settlement.

Briana Ireland, a City student, said: 'York was amazing! Such a fun trip! It was the perfect length of time there and we got to see everything.'

We also had entry to the Jorvik Centre, an interactive exhibition about York's Viking history.

One of our students said of the exhibition: 'It was really cool - the interactive aspect with the ride through the old Viking village was a great way to learn about the history.'

Overall, the trip was a great event. We would love to hear what your favorite part of York was, and to see some of your favorite photos from the day. (Don't forget, you can enter them into the photo competition!)
