Dear fall student – you’ll soon be setting off on your journey to London (and destinations beyond if you’re studying elsewhere in the UK). But London will be your first destination and you’ll have the opportunity during orientation to experience two very special London phenomena within a 5-minute walk of our strategically-located Study Center – one permanent, one temporary.

The permanent London institution is none other than the British Museum, just featured in Lonely Planet’s list of the top fifty ultimate travel sites/sights. The BM ranked number 15 in the world and is FREE to visit. Part of our Orientation schedule includes the opportunity to join a BM visit led by one of our knowledgeable faculty.

The temporary exhibit is just the kind of fun art installation Londoners have come to expect, living in the midst of the creative chaos of one of the world’s great global cities. In nearby Covent Garden (again, just 5 minutes’ walk from our Center) French conceptual artist Charles Petillon has filled the 1830 market buildings (where flower-seller Eliza Doolittle met Professor Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady with 1000’s of balloons

You’re eager to start your semester abroad? Being aware of – and taking advantage of – local opportunities is one of the real bonuses of studying abroad. Start the habit in London – it’ll stand you in good stead for the rest of the semester (and for the rest of your life too!)

Our London-based Arcadia staff is planning and prepping for your arrival: we’re so looking forward to meeting you and sharing our tips and insider insights. See you soon!
