The team here at the London Center are keen to help you make the most of your study abroad experience. One way we do this is to organise great trips to help you explore the amazing history and culture that these isles have to offer. Among other activities, we run three weekend excursions to Edinburgh, Liverpool and Wales. We are so excited about them we have shared why we think you should be as excited.

Edinburgh

What can we say about Edinburgh; a historic city with a modern twist, set within stunning scenery. That only starts to explain how great this magical place is. The Scottish capital, famous for its Castle, is a specular city that Arcadia has been taking students to for years. The trip always sells out and rightly so.

There is so much to do in Edinburgh, from visiting the historical wonders to shopping, from tasting the local delicatessens to climbing Arthur's Seat. The variation of what the city has to offer is phenomenal. Therefore there is significant amounts of free time on this trip so you can explore what appeals to you. We will be in Edinburgh with you and be on hand to give you advice on where to visit.

Liverpool

Liverpool has a rich history, based around its port, which has played a major part in historical events. It played a large part in the Atlantic slave trade which is remembered in the International Slavery Museum. It was also the port of registry for a number of famous ships, including the RMS Titanic. With this history comes an incredibly diverse population and is home to both the oldest Black African community, and the oldest Chinese community in Europe.

One of Liverpool’s most famous exports was the rock band The Beatles, formed in 1960. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr are widely regarded as the most influential rock band of all time. ‘Beatlemania’ took over the world, and they were the British musicians that paved the way into the US pop market. To this day, they are still the best selling band in the United States.

This event is part of the Life of the Mind, Rhythms of the World, series.

Wales

This trip is for the adrenaline junkies amongst you. In a remote part of Wales, just outside a small coastal town called Fishgaurd, we take students to stunning scenery, wildlife and fresh sea air. Oh, and of course, the awesome activities. These include hiking, sea kayaking, surfing and the thrilling coasteering.

During this unique weekend away you’ll stay in a fully catered lodge, be led by experienced and trusted guides, and explore the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Please note this event leaves on Friday afternoon. It is your responsibility to check for academic clashes.

Places on every event are limited and sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. If there are still spaces available throughout the semester, or if any spaces become available, we will make sure you are aware.

If you have any questions regarding these events, email the London Center Student Services Team at london@arcadia.edu, or get in touch via Twitter or the Fall Facebook group page.
