Today we caught up with our very own Phil Cable to talk all things Arcadia, music and quotes.

Tell us a little bit about your role...

As Senior Student Services Officer I look after most aspects of student life apart from the Academic side! This can really be anything from student/partner relations/issues, events, housing, orientation, student life office, volunteering and the occasional stint on the emergency phone (and more). A kind of jack of all trades, master of none within Study Abroad.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The variety - each day, each week, each semester is completely different. Planned days can turn into something completely different. Being involved in various areas there is always something new and interesting to hear and learn about. And of course talking to American students about the British weather.

What do you do when you're not at Arcadia?

Football, this used to be playing, however with ligament replacements in both of my knees before turning 30 has turned this into just watching.  AFC Wimbledon, by far the greatest club on the planet. I now commute to work by cycling; 28 miles a day keeps me fit, and saves a lot of money by not using the trains in London!

Name one song you enjoy listening to at the moment...

One song, hmm that's hard as Spotify is on continuous stream all day. I can say one song I don't enjoy listening to at the moment, which is Rather Be by Clean Bandit, and you can blame someone else in the office for having it on constant repeat.

What is your advice to study abroad students in London?

Get Involved - You're in London. There is so much to do each day that you should never be bored. I'll leave you with a quote from Samuel Johnson nearly 250 years ago "Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."

Look out for Phil around the center, you won't be able to miss him with his right yellow AFC Wimbledon mug.
