There is a lot going on during orientation, but we just wanted to take a moment to highlight the free events and activities that are on offer to you.

The Tower of London

Voted the number 1 landmark in the UK (TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Awards 2015)
The Tower of London is a 900 year old castle and fortress which houses the Crown Jewels.

Previously used as a prison, throughout it’s lifetime the Tower has seen a number of famous prisoners held here including Lady Jane Grey, Two of Henry VIII’s wives, (Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard) as well as the infamous Guy Fawkes.

All of our students in the Fall will get a free visit to the Tower of London. (A ticket usually costs around £20) As part of the visit you will get to see the Crown Jewels display, take part in a guided tour, witness live historical re-enactments and have access to current exhibitions

Billy Elliot

Billy Elliot has been storming the West End in London since it opened ten years ago and has become one of the most award-winning shows on stage today.

Selected as part of this years Life of the Mind series - Billy Elliot is set in a Northern mining town, against the backdrop of the 1984/85 miners’ strike that took place under Margaret Thatcher’s administration.

The story follows Billy’s journey as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class where he discovers a passion for dance that inspires his family and whole community and changes his life forever.

Funny, uplifting and featuring a timeless score by Elton John. All students will get a free top priced ticket to this (Usually around £60)

fREE FACULTY LED TOURS

Take advantage of the local knowledge our faculty have and join them on one of their free guided tours. Previous tours have included The Olympic Park and Street Art in the East End. This is a great opportunity to explore underground London and be introduced to areas that you might not otherwise have discovered. Keep your eyes on the Facebook group to see what free tours we will be running this semester!
