Join Arcadia Faculty member Dr. Laurence Scott for a tour of one of Bloomsbury’s best organisations of learning, the Wellcome Collection, to view their current major exhibition: ‘The Institute of Sexology’.

This exhibition is a wonderful meditation and exploration of human sexuality and how it has been conceived, diagnosed, and talked about at various points in history. The collection includes more than 200 objects from the worlds of visual arts, archives, cinema, erotica, and photography, and places key figures in the study of sex in lively conversation. It poses questions such as: How have we been taught to connect sex with pleasure and shame? What does it mean to be a pervert? How has sexual behaviour been viewed, historically, as a symptom of illness?

As well as considering the ideas of the major pioneers of sexology, the exhibition showcases new work from contemporary artists whose subject is the changing nature of sexual identity.

Head to the event on the Spring Facebook Group for details.
