Yesterday saw Blackwell Bookshop visit the Center with stacks of books in order of the book fair. As everyone wasn't able attend we have put together a guide to buying books in the UK. You may not have to buy the books which can save you lots of money. Check your syllabi and reading lists and head to the Library to see what books will be available to you.

If you plan to purchase texts, either second hand or new, we'd recommend the followings sites/stores:

Online

Amazon - www.amazon.co.uk

Yes, we have Amazon here too, though double check you are on the .co.uk site not .com as this will take you to the US site.

Alibris - www.alibris.co.uk

Search over 100 million titles, both new and used books can be found. If you are planning to buy more than two titles look out for the shipping discount.

Google Books - www.books.google.com

Ran by a small company called Google, this online library of books and journals is a good start for research. The best thing about this resource is that a lot of the material is free.

Book Shops

If you are in London, check our Charing Cross Road, where there are lots of second hand book suppliers.

National books stores include:

Waterstones
Blackwells - sometimes operate a buy-back scheme
Foyles

Students studying at the Arcadia Center, if you were unable to attend the Blackwell's book fair, you can head to their shop on High Holborn to purchase books. Make sure to have look at the books in the computer lab as well.
