With generally warm temperatures and long days, with the sun rising before 5am and setting after 9pm, one could argue that the summer is the best time to explore the UK. Our events programme, showcasing some quintessentially British experiences alongside famous tourist attractions, offers you the opportunity to see different sides of the UK even though you’re here for a relatively short period of time. Below you will find a list of our summer events and prices.
For a small additional fee you can sign up for our paid events. These day and evening excursions are heavily subsidised and are designed to give you access to memorable experiences with minimal planning - we will organise everything for you! Our summer events include:
Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. The castle's State Apartments house some of the most important works of art from the Royal Collection, while St George's Chapel within the castle grounds is the final resting place of 10 monarchs, including Henry VIII and Charles I. This self-guided tour allows you to wander at your own pace, soaking in the grandeur and significance of this living monument.
You’ll also have free time to explore - why not pop over the river to neighbouring Eton, famous for its grand school that counts Princes William and Harry and numerous Prime Ministers amongst its alumni?
Accessibility: The castle provides step-free access routes, though some sections may have uneven surfaces typical of historic sites. Moderate walking is required to fully appreciate the castle and its grounds.
Price: $40
Includes: Return travel to Windsor and entry to the castle.
No trip to the UK is complete without a visit to the mysterious Stonehenge. Dating back over 4000 years, its origins are still the subject of fierce debate. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the site and visit the museum before heading to nearby Salisbury. This quaint market town is home to Salisbury Cathedral, which boasts Britain’s tallest spire and an original copy of Magna Carta. You’ll have the chance to see both, and free time to explore the beautiful town before heading home.
Accessibility: Expect to navigate uneven pathways around Stonehenge and the cobbled streets of Salisbury. The sites have made considerable efforts to improve accessibility, but some areas might still be challenging for those with limited mobility.
Price: $85
Includes: Coach travel from London, with entries to both Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral, offering a day of historical discovery and exploration.
To many, cricket is a mystery - how can you play a game for 5 whole days and then end in a draw? A T20 is different - a shorter, faster version of the game, you can expect excitement and bitter rivalries at this local derby as Middlesex (London’s team) plays neighbouring county Surrey. With plenty of opportunities to grab food and drink, this is about as British an experience as you can get at Lord’s, known as the Home of Cricket (think of it as London’s answer to Fenway Park!)
Accessibility: Lord’s is fully accessible, and you will be seated.
Price: $25
Traditionally the summer holiday destination for people of all classes before international travel became common, the British seaside is famous for its fish and chips, fairgrounds and other attractions. Travel to England’s south coast and visit Brighton Pier for old-fashioned fairground rides that will take you back in time. You’ll have a chance to explore Brighton, famous for its Victorian Royal Pavilion and “The Lanes” - tiny pedestrianised streets full of eccentric shops and cafes.
Accessibility: expect some uneven surfaces and moderate walking. Brighton Pier is accessible to visitors with disabilities.
Cost: $30
Our Hidden London trips are completely FREE and showcase both famous and lesser-known attractions and experiences in the capital. This summer we’re offering the following:
See London from above from one of its skyscrapers - spot St Paul’s, Tower Bridge, the London Eye and other famous sites while relaxing away from the constant bustle down below.
Accessibility: fully accessible
Watch Shakespeare as it was meant to be watched in the world-famous Globe theatre! Grab a Groundling (standing) ticket to experience one of Shakespeare’s best-loved plays - Romeo and Juliet - like a true Elizabethan. (This excursion will run twice, on 26th June and 7th July. Pick whichever date is most convenient to you!)
Accessibility: Tickets are standing only, so be prepared to stand for around 3 hours.
Take a gentle boat ride along the Regent’s Canal from brash and vibrant Camden Town to the more tranquil Little Venice Canal Basin, where the Regent’s and Grand Union canals meet. Afterwards you’ll have the chance to explore the many local cafes, or trek up Primrose Hill for great views over the city.
Accessibility: Little walking (unless you choose to climb Primrose Hill). The boat is accessible, but always take care when near water!
Anglicanism is officially the UK's state religion, with the King as the head of the Church of England. Westminster Abbey, dating back to 1066, sits at the heart of the nation and has played host to numerous royal weddings, funerals and events over the last millennium. Join us to attend Evensong, a beautiful, traditional sung service that has been celebrated daily in the Cathedral for centuries. We'll hear the Cathedral's famous choir and also get the chance to look around a building that is arguably at its most evocative on winter evenings.
All are welcome! The service is mainly sung by the choir, and those visiting from a different religious tradition are warmly invited to sit and listen and are not required to participate.
The Pub is central to British social life. Throughout the summer we will be visiting several historic London pubs, where you will be able to enjoy a drink while you hear more about the location from our Faculty member, Morgan Daniels. We will email you about these closer to each event taking place.
