The 21st Rome Marathon, Maratona di Roma, took place this past Sunday, 22 March. This is a large event bringing out nearly 70 thousand people despite rainy conditions. There were 11,516 individuals running the marathon, and nearly 50,000 others that ran the non-competitive (Stracittadina) RomaFun 5k. Of course, our students were there too!

Arcadia in Rome student, Andrew Meluch, participated in the 42k, finishing the marathon in 3 hours 35 minutes. Congratulations!

"Something that really stood out to me was at the beginning of the race when the announcer said: This is your race, this is your day, and Rome is at your feet. This was my third marathon (Philadelphia 2013 and New Jersey 2014). I love training for and running marathons because it gives me the chance to push myself physically and mentally. The challenge is unlike any other, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to experience such an incredible race in Rome!" - Andrew Meluch

Also, kudos to all those who ran the non-competitive RomaFun 5k.
