Music day in rome

To celebrate music, Jack Lang, the French Minister of Culture, promoted along June Solstice La Fête de la Music (Music Day) in 1982. Was it more a chance to celebrate June Solstice or Music itself?

Now it is quite hard to answer this question but it is not to describe what this event has become.

Nowadays it is a call for every silence to become music, like Caparezza teaches. It is a shout to invoke tolerance and diversity through this powerful phenomenon that Music is.

The Budapest Charter, signed by the European coordinators in 1995, generates no misunderstandings: it is an event, completely free, that appeals people to join the Music Day as source of exchanges and discovery. Everyplace where Music is has to be open to the public.

It is an appeal to walk across the streets following the music you like more: where will your heart lead you?

On the Festa della Musica di Roma’s website you are going to be able to find a map with every location where music is going to be played. You can also participate to the event by your own or with friends or with your band by applying trough the participation form on the website: it is no required great knowledge of the instrument, just the will to participate.

Every sound has a chance to become music: it is up to you to give this chance to it.
