One of the world’s top academic institutions with a prestigious 800-year legacy

Consistently ranked among the top five universities in the world, The University of Cambridge, offers an exceptional academic experience to independent and self-motivated learners. As a visiting student, you will be able to study subjects in the liberal arts, humanities, and social sciences, such as archaeology, classics, theology and religion, art history, economics, law, psychology, history and political science. You will apply to one area of study that you must have significant academic background in—surveys and introductory-level courses are not available, so this program is best-suited for students at a junior or senior level. If you’re excited by the challenges and possibilities of an academic experience at Cambridge, this is a great study abroad program option.

  • You’ll benefit from the Supervision System, the cornerstone of the Cambridge academic program and highly regarded as one of the best teaching models. Supervision consists of intensive weekly or bi-weekly meetings with your assigned tutor, who may explain specific points from lectures, offer criticism on your written work, debate ideas, and direct you toward research materials. You should expect to work much more independently than at your home school, which is great preparation for graduate-level work.

  • You’ll settle in easily with full access to all University facilities, including the renowned University Library. You’ll live, eat, socialize, and attend your supervisions in your assigned college.

  • Situated in the beautiful medieval city of Cambridge, you’ll be just one hour from London by train yet still enjoy the intimacy and pride of a city with a small-town vibe. Relax in Parker’s Piece, a 25-acre common with walking and cycling paths where modern football (soccer!) was born (the first set of rules—The Cambridge Rules—were drawn up by members of the university in 1848). It also hosts several annual fairs, such as the Cambridge Folk Festival, the Cambridge Beer Festival and the Cambridge Film Festival, and the Cambridge Arts Theatre.

  • For this program, you’ll need to submit a second academic reference. Both references should be within your intended area of study. In addition, please submit copies of two graded academic writing samples in your major subject.
