James Cook University: Housing

Housing options at James Cook University in Townsville are residential colleges, managed by Unilodge, located on campus. Residential life is extremely inclusive and active at JCU. You can participate in social and cultural events, club sports, and a myriad of other organized activities. The colleges are actively involved in the Fisher Shield, an intercollegiate sports competition held during the year.

George Roberts Hall

George Roberts Hall

Built in 2002, George Roberts Hall provides fully-catered housing. You'll reside in a single room, within a three-or-four-bedroom, air-conditioned apartment. Each apartment includes a small kitchenette, shared bathroom facilities, and a common lounge room. Additionally, you're provided with a linen pack upon arrival. You'll enjoy access to the facility’s volleyball, half basketball courts, and swimming pool, all located within a short walk from campus.

Burralga Yumba

The most recent addition to the JCU Unilodge portfolio, Burralga Yumba is a self-catered facility that will open in 2022. Located next to another new project, JCU’s Technology Innovation Complex, the newest student housing option will be home to more than 400 students. Designed to provide contemporary and affordable student housing in a secure, safe and environmentally sustainable environment, the facility will feature individual bedrooms in group-share communal facilities, including a centralized, self-catered "master-chef"-style kitchen and dining space.

Rotary International House

One of the smaller residential colleges at JCU, Rotary International House provides a social atmosphere that celebrates the cultural differences of its residents. The facility includes 6-or-7-bedroom apartments, each with individual rooms that includes split system air conditioning, with a shared kitchen and bathrooms. There are numerous additional common areas, shared computer facilities, and luscious gardens on-site. This college is self-catering only, and best suited for students with dietary restrictions. You are provided with a linen pack upon arrival. The Resident Student’s Association organizes regular social, cultural, and sporting events.
