Griffith University Courses

You’ll take a full credit load of 16 U.S. credits (40 Griffith units). 10 Australian university credit point units = 4 U.S. university semester hours of credit.

  • Please review your courses with your academic or study abroad advisor to ensure they will transfer back to your home school and that you are following your home school’s policies.
  • Please be flexible – we can’t guarantee specific courses. If your participation in the program depends on a particular course, be sure to make a note on your online course form.

Special Considerations

Griffith may request that you submit syllabi or an updated official transcript.

Choosing Your Courses

You can find a list of pre-approved courses for study abroad students here. These will not be reviewed by Griffith faculty, so it is extremely important that you review the pre-requisites to ensure you have the adequate background.

You can also choose courses from the Griffith course catalog by following these steps:

  • In the Search for a Degree box click Courses radial, then the three horizontal lines to bring up search filters.
  • Complete the form by choosing a group area and then the appropriate school, program level (undergraduate), semester (commencing), and campus.
  • Click the Search button.
  • Clicking on the course name will take you to a full description of the course.
  • From this page, you can view the available course profile (syllabus).
  • Students intending to live on the Gold Coast campus may only take courses at the Gold Coast campus.
  • For U.S. Spring courses (February-June in Australia), please select courses for Trimester 1 at Griffith. For U.S. Fall courses (July-November in Australia), please select courses for Trimester 2.

  • Please select at least 8 courses and mark alternative courses on the form.
