But this beautiful country is also a symbol of conflict resolution in the modern age. Although the island is divided, it is at peace and prospering. In this enthralling summer program you will delve into Irish history, politics, and literature while exploring the culture and meeting the people of this charismatic country. Based in Dublin, you’ll enjoy a cosmopolitan city with a multi-cultural feel that is steeped in history, art, music and beauty.

Session 1

  • Irish Literature – explore the works of major Irish writers, dramatists and poets, including illustrious figures such as James Joyce and W.B. Yeats. (4 credits)

Session 2

  • Irish History – delve into the defining political and historical events of 20th century Ireland. (3 credits)

  • Specific excursions available to students participating in Irish History, Politics and Literature include; Leinster House - The Irish Parliament, Avondale House & Glendalough Co. Wicklow, Kilmainham Jail, Smock Alley Theatre, Temple Bar, Dublin Writer's Museum, Joyce Tower, and Sandycove.
