As a student at the University of Technology Sydney, you will have the option of applying to live in a Residential College on University of Sydney’s campus or you can opt to live in a student apartment. As you read the information below, please be sure to review the general accommodation information for Australia.
Students from UTS are welcomed at residential colleges, a short bus ride away, at nearby University of Sydney. The colleges are well-established and steeped in tradition. As a member of a residential college, you will be part of a community of residents. This involves participating in organized social functions, eating together in the college dining hall and taking part in other activities. Most colleges have teams that compete against the other halls in a range of sports. Living in a college is an excellent way to meet local students and to make the most of your time in Australia, but it is not for everyone.
The application process for residential colleges is very competitive. Arcadia has maintained a close relationship with Sancta Sophia College.
Sancta Sophia College houses students (women only) in single and shared bedrooms with communal bathroom facilities. Student life at Sancta Sophia is very social: you can participate in competitive or intramural sport, take part in the College’s drama productions or simply sit back and enjoy the musical talent of your college mates.
The Quadrangle is a popular gathering place for students and often used for social events. The common rooms, featuring leather couches, a grand piano and a sandstone fireplace, can be used daily as a place to sit back and relax or for other organized activities. A fully equipped kitchen allows you to prepare for at your leisure, though as part of your full meal plan, you will regular dine with fellow residents.
If you prefer a more independent style of accommodation, self-catered residences are available in the areas surrounding campus. All apartments are close to cafes, restaurants and shops and feature kitchens where you will prepare your own meals.

Students are housed in a shared apartment featuring 2-7 single bedrooms with shared bathroom facilities, common area and kitchen.
