Your accommodation options at James Cook University will depend on the campus you will be attending.  If you are in Townsville, you will live in residential colleges; at Cairns, you will live in student apartments. Your campus is primarily determined by which courses you take. As you read the information below specific to your campus, please be sure to also review the general Australia accommodation information.

Townsville Campus

At JCU Townsville, you will live in a residential college. Residential life is very active; you can participate in social events, club sports  and other organized activities. Many halls are actively involved in the Fisher Shield, an intercollegiate sports competition held every semester.

George Roberts Hall
Built in 2002, George Roberts Hall provides fully-catered accommodation. Students will have a single room in three and four bedroom air-conditioned suites, each with a small kitchenette and common lounge. Students are provided with a linen pack upon arrival. Students enjoy access to the facility’s volleyball, half basketball courts and swimming pool, all located within a short walk from campus.

Rotary International House
One of the smaller residential colleges at JCU, Rotary International House provides a social atmosphere that celebrates the cultural differences of its residents. Students at Rotary all have a single room in suite-style accommodation, with a shared kitchen. Students are provided with a linen pack upon arrival. There are numerous common areas, shared computer facilities and luscious gardens. This college is self-catering only. The Resident Student’s Association organizes regular social and sporting events.

St. Mark's Residential College
Centrally located on campus, St. Mark's provides fully-catered accommodation to students. Students are housed in single rooms in halls with shared bathrooms. St. Mark's organized regular social and sporting activities for students to become involved with. Students will be provided with a linen pack upon arrival.

Saints College
Located centrally at JCU, Saints College provides fully-catered accommodation for 300 students, including a women's-only wing. Residents are housed in private bedrooms on single-sex floors with shared bathrooms and common areas. A full meal plan is included. Linen is provided and room cleaning and laundering of linen is done weekly by the college. This college offers a supportive social and academic environment, promoting community living.

University Hall
JCU’s largest residential college, University Hall offers students a fully-catered meal plan. Students are housed in single rooms that open out onto shared halls with shared bathrooms, common areas and kitchenettes. Located in the center of campus, University Hall also offers a volleyball court for its residents and organizes many social activities throughout the semester. Linen is provided.

Cairns Campus

At JCU Cairns, you will be housed in student apartments. You have the option of living adjacent to campus or in the city.  

Cairns Student Lodge
Conveniently located across from campus, Cairns Student Lodge offers fully-catered accommodation (though a limited number of self-catered rooms are available). You will be housed in a single room as a part of a three bedroom suite which includes a bathroom, kitchenette and shared common area. Linen packs are provided. The Student Lodge offers a friendly environment, in close proximity to beaches and shops.

Cairns Sharehouse
Set near Cairns city, around 10 miles from campus, Cairns Sharehouse offers self-catered accommodation. You should expect a twenty-minute commute, by bus, to and from campus. You can choose from single or twin rooms in houses sharing a kitchen, bathrooms and living areas. Each lockable room includes a bed, desk and storage closets. Linen and internet are provided, as is weekly cleaning and a 24 hour security call line. The houses are located within close proximity to Cairns city center, enabling easy access to services, public transport and shops.
