University of Aberdeen Courses

Most students take 3-4 courses for 15-16 semester hours of credit.

  • Please review your courses with your academic or study abroad advisor to ensure they will transfer back to your home school and that you are following your home school’s policies.
  • Please be flexible – we can’t guarantee specific courses. If your participation in the program depends on a particular course, be sure to make a note on your online course form.

Special Considerations

Fall students will take specifically arranged exams or turn in final assessments before departing; you will not be expected to stay for May exams.

Course Restrictions

Honors/3rd and 4th Year Courses

Admittance into Honors level classes is selective and at the discretion of Aberdeen's departmental tutors, upon review of students’ official transcripts. There is a limit of one or two honors courses per semester. Clinical Medicine, Education, and Level 4 English courses are not available to study abroad students.

To qualify, you must have:

  • taken at least 3 prior classes in subject
  • earned a grade of a B or above

Note:

  • Level 4 = require significant background in subject.
  • Level 5 = graduate-level, unavailable.

Choosing Your Courses

  • Academic Year = 120 SCOTCAT credits = 30-32 semester hour credits
  • Fall Semester = 60 SCOTCAT credits = 15-16 semester hour credits
  • Spring Semester = 60 SCOTCAT credits = 15-16 semester hour credits

Final course registration does not take place until you arrive at the University of Aberdeen.

Submit the online course form to the Arcadia University College of Global Studies through your Arcadia Passport.

List all course choices and alternates in order of preference.
