University of Otago: Housing

University Flats are houses and apartments dotted around the University of Otago campus that provide a lively, social atmosphere. Each flat is fully furnished and you will occupy a single bedroom with access to a shared kitchen, bathroom, and living area.

Arcadia students reside with other international and study abroad students. Uni Flats (as they are known on campus) also strives to have a Kiwi Host (a local New Zealand student) placed in as many flats as possible, to provide valuable information and insight into student life in Dunedin and New Zealand in general. All flats are a 5-20 minute walk from the center of the campus and within walking distance of shops, grocery stores, cafes, and restaurants. Meal plans are not available and flats are designed for self catering. There are supermarkets nearby and in some flats students take turns cooking with their flatmates. In other flats, students choose to do their own thing. This is something to decide once you get here.

While we ensure all housing satisfies Arcadia standards, there is no way to guarantee uniformity of apartment and room sizes, distance from Otago University, or the furnishings or facilities included. Prices provided on the University Flats website may vary from the Arcadia housing fees depending on the current exchange rate, additional charges for items/services included (eg a linen pack) and the exact number of weeks our students are housed in NZ on the Arcadia program.

Except in very rare circumstances, we are not able to accommodate any roommate requests in New Zealand.
