Dublin Parliamentary Internship Courses

Your Courses
You will earn a total of 15 credits taking four courses. You will earn six semester hours of credit for the internship course. You will also spend two days each week taking three courses taught by lecturers at the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) (which awards degrees through the National University of Ireland).

- DUBI INPR 310: Dublin Parliamentary Internship: Central to the internship experience will be a research project, the focus of which will be determined in consultation with the program's Academic Director, IPA faculty and the member of parliament to whom a student is assigned. The project is meant to allow students to focus on their research interests as they relate to Irish politics, culture or society and will culminate in a written piece 2500-3500 words in length. The structure of the program is organized so that the internship itself remains the most important aspect of the experience, and it is not possible for the student to perform poorly as an intern and still have a good research paper rescue him/her in terms of final grades. Students will be evaluated by their performance as an intern in key areas. This evaluation will account for a significant portion of the grade. Finally, all students will maintain a journal as a reflective exercise. Journals are not assigned a letter grade or percentage of the final grade; however failure to complete journaling assignments will cause a deduction in the student's final grade.
