Choosing Your Courses 

All courses are taught in English, so no minimum amount of Spanish language is required to participate. All students take five required courses for a total of 17 credits. Courses are taught in blocks, one at a time, to maximize location and resources for each particular subject area and topic.  

Course Enrollment Process

Completing Your Academic Preferences Form

  • Log in to your Arcadia application portal and go to the Checklist Items tab. Click on Start Form Now under the Academic Preferences Form section.
  • Indicate your anticipated level of Spanish language and you may make any comments that need to be reviewed by your Program Advisor. 

Enrollment Procedures

  • Students on this program are automatically enrolled in a set curriculum of four courses (4 credits each) and a certificate course (1 credit). 
  • Your Spanish language level will be confirmed by a placement test. Courses are available from Beginner through Advanced levels of language and grammar, as well as content courses in Spanish for more advanced students.

  • CGEE INS 291 Central American Cultures & Global Competency Certificate (1 credit, optional)

Courses and Grade Scale

All courses must be taken for a letter grade (A-F). The only exception is for Spanish classes, which may also be taken for a P/NC grade, with the following definitions:

  • Pass: C- or higher
  • Low Pass: D+, D or D-
  • No Credit: F

Please make sure you have confirmed with your advisor or Registrar that a P/NC grade is permitted.
