While the current conflict in the Middle East does not directly intersect with Arcadia Abroad program locations, we recognize that events in the region have broader geopolitical implications and may be of concern to our partners, students and their families. Our global staff are encouraging students to stay informed through credible news sources and, where appropriate, to engage with the situation through an academic lens – examining the historical, political, and cultural dynamics shaping the region and considering how these developments may influence global affairs.
From a practical standpoint, we have shared safety and security resources, including access to International SOS’s security analysis database, to support informed decision-making. We have reinforced:
Arcadia continues to advise all students to register their study abroad location and any independent travel plans through the U.S. Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) and disclose their plans to Arcadia Abroad.
We have also reminded students that, should they experience stress or uncertainty related to events in the Middle East, there are mental health resources available through International SOS, fully covered under our insurance plan. Many of our host institutions have likewise communicated with students about available campus resources and support services.
We will continue to monitor the developments in the Middle East closely and communicate with students and partners as appropriate. While there is presently no indication that the conflict will have an impact on program delivery, we are committed to preparedness, proactive communication, and maintaining the well-being of our community.
Kind regards,
The Arcadia Abroad Health, Safety, and Student Affairs Team
