The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University has made adjustments to our center-based programs to ensure we can offer students flexible and exciting study abroad programs for Fall 2020 in London, Rome and Athens.

“These unpredictable times in which we live have inspired our Arcadia team to redouble our efforts to support high quality and safe student learning in a global context. We continue to commit to our mission of delivering programming – whether on-site or on-line – that encourages students to participate fully and to become thoughtful change agents --  vital to our community’s ability to thrive in the future.” - Lorna Stern, Vice President of Arcadia University and Executive Director of The College of Global Studies.

While our goal remains to provide an immersive and exciting study abroad experience, we recognize the challenges of the current pandemic which require us to be nimble. It is with this in mind that we’ve adjusted our center-based programs to provide the flexibility needed to ensure the health and well-being of our students as well as continuous program delivery options.

Programs in London, Rome and Athens

  • Courses will now be taught in two six-week academic blocks. Students will take two, four-credit courses during each block for a full 16 credit semester.
  • Program dates have been adjusted to bring the time in country to 89 days eliminating the visa requirement for most U.S citizens.
  • Criteria have been established within the program, to offer housing options which permit appropriate support to students in the event of an illness outbreak, to provide for social distancing within the program and to update student expectations with respect to how they participate, in response to the changing environment.

In the event overseas travel is not feasible in time for the program start date, we are prepared to shift to a combination of virtual and in-country course delivery. An additional week of activities will be added to the end of the program overseas to enhance the in-country experience. If it is decided that overseas travel is impossible, we are prepared to deliver the entire program virtually, inclusive of activities and internship opportunities.
