Mansfield College

Founded in 1838 as Spring Hill College, Mansfield College occupies one of the most attractive sites in Oxford; it is close to the libraries and shops, yet in a quiet position close to the University parks and River Cherwell. The college holds about 500 students total; 231 undergraduates, 158 graduates, 34 visiting (study abroad) students and 67 fellows and academics.

Academics

At Mansfield, you can study tutorials within Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Students wanting to study English Literature or History are encouraged to apply. A minimum 3.7 GPA is required and courses are available to academic year and spring students. Preference will be given to academic year students.

Housing

You will be housed in a single room in one of two halls in East Oxford, both within 15-20 minutes of the college. Where possible you will be housed with Mansfield College students with access to shared bathrooms and kitchenette. Each hall is located close to amenities such as shops, restaurants and cafes. Your housing will include:

  • Access to subsidized breakfast, lunch and dinner at the college dining hall. Look out for the award-winning vegetarian meals!
  • Bedding linen
  • Vacation accommodation for all year and Spring students

Welfare

Additional to the support that Arcadia provides, students benefit from a range of dedicated advisers including the Director of Visiting Students, Tutor for Student Welfare and Tutor for Women. Each college has a JCR (Junior Common Room) which is made up of current students in roles such as Women and Men’s Officers and an LGBT Rep.

Application Deadlines

Please note the early application deadline for all Oxford colleges. There is one application cycle for academic year, fall and spring and you should submit by January 21st for the following academic year.
