Founded in 1878 as the first women's college in Oxford, Lady Margaret Hall continues to be a welcoming and pioneering college for both women and men. Located on the river Cherwell, the college sits North of central Oxford. The city center is just a 20-minute walk or 6-minute cycle through the University Parks. The college holds about 625 students total: 400 undergraduates, 200 postgraduates and 28 visiting (study abroad) students.
Lady Margaret Hall welcomes applications across all disciplines with a minimum of 3.7 GPA. Students wanting to study history and music are encouraged to apply. Courses are available to academic year, fall and spring students.
Students studying at Lady Margaret Hall benefit from the large college library which is open 2/7 - a rarity in the U.K.
Visiting students will be housed within the stunning college grounds which boast beautiful gardens, tennis courts, a hockey pitch and a punt house (a gondola-like boat which is a traditional pastime in Oxford). Inside the college, you have access to the Chapel, College Bar and library. Your room will be a single room and will include:
Please note, vacation accommodation between terms is not included and will need to be paid for when you are at the college if required.
Additional to the support that Arcadia offers, the long-established Visiting Student Office supports students as soon as they arrive at the college, both personally and academically. Peer to peer support is emphasized at Oxford and Lady Margaret Hall are no different. You will have college parents, often 2nd or 3rd-year students, who will show you the ropes throughout your time at Oxford.
The college nurse will also on hand if you’re feeling under the weather.
Please note the early application deadline for all Oxford colleges. There is one application cycle for academic year, fall and spring and you should submit by January 21st for the following academic year.
Each college has different fees, please see the fees page for further details.
