Ceilidh is my jam!

I went to a ceilidh dance for the first time. I had planned to go to one but never got the chance to do so. I must say, I have been missing out on action all this time because ceilidh is such a fun event. It provides a fun opportunity for visitors and locals to come together and dance to lively Scottish country dances with simple steps.
Popular ceilidh dances include the Flying Scotsman, Gay Gordons, Strip the Willow and the Dashing White Sergeant. You just have to take your partner by the hand and spin across the floor to the instantly memorable and upbeat tunes. Traditional ceilidh music is derived from instruments including fiddles, accordions and drums.
When I first got to the dancing hall, I was a bit intimidated because there were too many people, the event was big by many folds than how I anticipated, and it looked like people knew each other. I was wrong! Usually a member of the band talks everybody through the steps first, allowing beginners to join in the fun. The ambiance made it look like people knew each other, only after I started dancing I realized I was part of a bigger group. I was swoon by the ceilidh jams.
